CONFIDENCE in COTTON

Foot Traffic Cotton Tights

It’s cold!  Winter is finally here and we start digging in our drawers to find our socks, leggings, tights, etc. to find something to keep our legs warm (without sacrificing our fashion sensibilities, of course!).  What a great time to talk about cotton tights and leggings.

Why cotton?
Our cotton tights and leggings are made of 60 % combed cotton, the finest cotton available. They are like wearing your underwear all the way to your feet. You wore cotton as a baby and there’s a reason for that. It’s a naturally soft, durable fiber. That’s what makes our tights and leggings so darn soft and comfortable.

But wait… there’s more! Cotton is a fiber that blends beautifully with other fibers to ensure a great fit. So, using our very secret weaving technique (hint: high needle count and proprietary weaving process) we added nylon and spandex for maximum stretch and flexibility giving each pair the ability to retain its original shape after every wearing and every washing. AND, the crotch stays up. AND they don’t stretch out.  AND they don’t shrink!  That’s why they fit every time you put them on.

Our waistband is a 1” feathered underwear elastic waistband so it won’t roll over or down. Once they are on, no yanking or pulling up. That’s why you forget you have them on.

Our proprietary construction process eliminates the need for a seat panel. Instead we have a single, flat reinforced seam in the seat so no unsightly lines under your pants or skirts.  That’s why your butt looks so good!

Cotton is durable. Think about items like denim, diapers, sheets and shirts. They are made of cotton because the fiber is one of the most durable fibers available.  Our cotton tights don’t easily run and don’t wear out so plan on wearing them over and over.

That’s why we are confident that Foot Traffic cotton tights and leggings will be in your drawer next time you are digging for your favorite legwear!

We are so confident that you will love them, we are offering a guarantee with our SIGNATURE combed cotton tights and leggings as well as our PREMIUM combed cotton leggings. Click here  for the details!

I’M DREAMING OF A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS…

Did you know that color is a great way to change your mood? Just as music creates an emotional response so does color. With the current, unsettled economic situation, we are all looking for a reason to be cheerful. No wonder major retailers this holiday season are featuring bright, bold colors, suggesting strength, confidence, and optimism.

Whether it’s bright dresses, colorful jeans, or accessories, you will see color everywhere this holiday and who isn’t more cheerful when wearing bright colors? Favorite holiday colors include red, turquoise, emerald green, sapphire blue, hot pink, and orange.

And, being the “bright spot” at a party doesn’t mean you have to look like a Christmas tree. With a few fun colorful accessories, you will brighten your mood and the mood of others around you. Of course, a simple way to add color is with a pair of colorful tights or leggings. Put on your LBD or black skirt, add tights, a matching scarf… and voila!

Other featured accessories include bright shoes, purses, scarves, hats, belts, etc.

This holiday season, it is time to step away from the television, put down your bank statements, and take time to enjoy the holidays…..

….AND MAY ALL YOUR CHRISTMAS TIGHTS BE BRIGHT!!!

The Quality of Cashmere…

So much luxury from such a little goat!

Cashmere Goat - Selvege magazine Cashmere Goat - Selvege magazine

We can thank the Capra Hircus Laniger goat for giving us the incredibly soft, supple, sought-after fiber, cashmere. For over 10,000 years, this remarkable goat has been present in Central Asia, and is still thriving in the remote regions of the inhospitable uplands of Inner and Outer Mongolia, Afghanistan, and Iran.  The extreme weather conditions and the Cashmere Goat - Selvege magazinescarcity of water and vegetation on this arid countryside have forced these particular goats to adapt and survive on very little. It’s OK. They like it.

The extreme changes in temperature between day and night as well as the brutal harsh winters (sometimes 45 degrees below zero!) require the goats to grow a unique coat, providing warmth and protection. The long course outer hairs are the guard hairs. The underfleece, the fine soft silky hairs, six times finer than human hair, is called the duvet, pashm, or cashmere.  The colder the climate, the finer and warmer the undercoat.

In early spring when the goats moult, the Himalayan farmers comb the fine woolen undercoat from the neck and chest of goat, painstakingly separating the guard hairs from the sumptuous cashmere fibers. This de-hairing process is usually done mechanically but in some regions this process is still done by hand.

CORPORATE CULTURE AND PERSONAL STYLE

What Does Your Work Attire Communicate?

Whether you want to admit it or not, your clothing is a constant communication to those around you. Your outfit may say “casual chic” when you go out with friends, or it may say, “romantic” on a date night. Your style says different things about you, and there’s no place where getting that “message” right is more important, than at work.

Is your style position appropriate?

Every organization has a “style culture.” Dressing to fit into that culture does not mean you have to sacrifice style, but be aware that if you want to move up in your organization, dressing like the people in higher positions than you can demonstrate that you want to be one of them. Like my mother told me, “dress for the job you want, not the job you have.”Foot Traffic Perfect Pair Tights

How to “fit-in” without “selling out”

There are some interesting ways to style up your suits, skirts and dresses and still be in line with your organization’s style culture. How? With just a few variations of accessories such as belts, scarves and legwear.  Add color and texture to a business suit or sweater with an animal print belt, a patterned scarf, or a favorite accessory that reflects your personality.

Most organizations still encourage pantyhose and tights at the office because they create a clean, lean look that adds polish and class to your professional image. A staple in your work-wear closet should be a great pair of black tights.

5 Halloween Costume Ideas-2011

Halloween is just around the corner and it is time to start thinking about what you want to dress up as this year. If you have not started planning what you are going to dress up as, do not worry. I have put together a list of my top 5 fashionable Halloween costume ideas for 2011.

1.) Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood.

True Blood has become one of my favorite HBO series this year and Sookie is by far my favorite character. She has such an adorable and sweet sense of style but also has the courage and strength to battle with dangerous vampires! Don’t forget to add some vampire bite marks to your neck. You can find her Merlot’s waitress costume at www.hbo.comSookie Stackhousesookie stackhouse sookie stackhouse

2.) Lady Gaga.

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of people dressing up as Lady Gaga this year, but luckily there are many of her over-the-top outfits to pick from. Click here to browse some of her most famous looks.

3.) Cher from Clueless.

Clueless is a truly timeless movie. Cher represents everything that is fashion and since I love the 90’s I thought she would be a fun character to be for Halloween.  Just remember to add “whatever” and “as if!” to your vocabulary! You can find Cher’s classic white knee high socks from Foot Traffic here.

4.) Snooki from Jersey Shore.

I just could not leave Snooki off of this list. I think she is such a fun character. Make sure to gym, tan and laundry to get in character and make sure you rock snooki’s signature hairdo. Click here to watch an online tutorial on how to do a “Snooki Poof” and makeup.

SKIRTED LEGGINGS…

The perfect combination of leggings and a skirt in one piece!

One of my pet peeves is trying to align my tights or leggings with my underwear and my skirt.  That’s three waistbands to negotiate every time I move!  I am always “adjusting” to avoid those unsightly lines that show my not-so-perfect figure.  You know what I mean!

Foot Traffic Skirted Legging

To solve that problem, we have designed a very figure-flattering solid opaque legging and skirt combined. It is the perfect fashion piece as it combines two items into one so once you put it on, no more tugging and pulling! It is great to layer under your favorite sweater, jacket, or shirt. At the recent Accessories Show in Las Vegas, this item was a favorite of the buyers because it fits well, looks great, and the quality is outstanding. Hopefully, it will be a favorite of yours this fall and winter.

OLE, YULIE!

West 18th Street Fashion ShowThe West 18th Street Fashion Show is one of the highlights of the summer as 18 young, talented fashion designers showcase their runway collections to a street packed audience in the Crossroads Art District in downtown Kansas City. The crowd eagerly gathered June 11 to see this year’s collections based on the theme, Summer in Spain.

OLE! The show did not disappoint.

Each fashion collection was a distinctive expression from each of the designers. One of the designers, Yulie Urano, was a newcomer to the show.

When talking to Yulie, she was very pleased with her designs and found the process exhausting but extremely energizing. As a recent graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute in fiber arts, Yulie was concentrating on her senior thesis until the middle of May. Once graduated, Yulie was able to turn her attention to creating her knitwear collection, showcasing her passion for fashion. The knitting needles were flying as the mid-June deadline approached.

When asked what inspired her designs, Yulie said it was the bold bright colors and feminine aspects of Spain.

She described her collection as “fun, feminine with an unconventional twist.”

That is definitely a good description as Yulie used large twisted yarn to create all of her pieces. She made the long strips of thick yarn on a knitting machine and then knit each fashion piece herself. The bright colored yarns and garments were punctuated with contrasting colored fashion tights from Foot Traffic, creating an invigorating knitwear collection, as seen in this great photo by Tiffany Matson.
