Get Your Holiday On with Foot Traffic!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the whole reason for the day. I love seeing my family… I love the chaos… and I love the smells of cinnamon, spice and everything nice that comes out of the kitchen.

#TripleCrownSummer: Photos from the West 18th St. Fashion Show – Behind the Scenes at the Dress Rehearsal

As you may have read in our post from last week, Foot Traffic was a proud sponsor of the West 18th St. Fashion Show here in Kansas City, Missouri.

Any of the legwear the designers used in their collections came from Foot Traffic, and we absolutely LOVED seeing the interesting ways the designers worked in our pieces.

Stay tuned for a more detailed post later this week about the inspiration behind the designers’ collections!

First Fridays: Faeries Flit About Foot Traffic

Last Friday was another First Friday here in Kansas City. For those of you who remember, First Friday is a time for local artists to display and sell their work, street performers to wow a crowd and food trucks to fight the hunger of the crowds.

This past Friday, Foot Traffic happened upon a group of faeries.

Guest Blogger: “Foot Traffic to the Rescue” by Jayme

Foot Traffic Made My Presentation

I work with Foot Traffic’s marketing agency as one of their online strategists. My job is to help them decide what content to produce and help come up with campaigns. So you could say I’m pretty much behind the scenes. So what am I doing front and center as a guest blogger?

The Fashion Emergency

I was recently asked to speak at the 2nd Annual Content Marketing Retreat, on Whidbey Island, in Langley, Washington. I was indeed honored, and taking the event seriously, decided to find a new outfit. I found the dress – straight and fitted. I found the shoes – sky-high but sturdy. Found the jewelry – in my drawer. Then as I tried it all on two days before I was to board a plane to Washington, the outfit seemed incomplete. “I need tights!” I thought.

MARDI GRAS COLORS from head to…toe socks!

Every year I can’t wait for Mardi Gras. Unfortunately, I don’t head to Louisiana where this fun holiday began, but I do celebrate the event by dressing in the colors of Mardi Gras, wearing a few beads and cooking up some incredible jambalaya. What could be more fun?!

New Year’s Eve: Keeping it Simple

Kissing by the Fireplace...in socks

“What are you doing for New Year’s Eve?”

There is an expectation that we should go out, get festive, and ring in the New Year with fireworks, dancing and partying. I admit I have enjoyed this monumental event of kissing at midnight, confetti, champagne, and celebrating long into the next day. But these last few years, by the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, I do not want to plan another thing, eat more food or drink more wine. I have come to enjoy the quiet that follows the rush of Christmas and I guess I would rather just merge into next year rather that do a “party plunge.” I am grateful for good health, a wonderful family, and great friends and prefer to just relax and reflect on the past year.

5 Halloween Costume Ideas-2011

Halloween is just around the corner and it is time to start thinking about what you want to dress up as this year. If you have not started planning what you are going to dress up as, do not worry. I have put together a list of my top 5 fashionable Halloween costume ideas for 2011.

1.) Sookie Stackhouse from True Blood.

True Blood has become one of my favorite HBO series this year and Sookie is by far my favorite character. She has such an adorable and sweet sense of style but also has the courage and strength to battle with dangerous vampires! Don’t forget to add some vampire bite marks to your neck. You can find her Merlot’s waitress costume at www.hbo.comSookie Stackhousesookie stackhouse sookie stackhouse

2.) Lady Gaga.

I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of people dressing up as Lady Gaga this year, but luckily there are many of her over-the-top outfits to pick from. Click here to browse some of her most famous looks.

3.) Cher from Clueless.

Clueless is a truly timeless movie. Cher represents everything that is fashion and since I love the 90’s I thought she would be a fun character to be for Halloween.  Just remember to add “whatever” and “as if!” to your vocabulary! You can find Cher’s classic white knee high socks from Foot Traffic here.

4.) Snooki from Jersey Shore.

I just could not leave Snooki off of this list. I think she is such a fun character. Make sure to gym, tan and laundry to get in character and make sure you rock snooki’s signature hairdo. Click here to watch an online tutorial on how to do a “Snooki Poof” and makeup.

5.) Twiggy.

Lastly I thought I would include fashion icon Twiggy. She is a classic. This costume will give you the opportunity to wear the retro style and bright colors we have been seeing on the runways this season.  Click here to see how to create Twiggy’s famous eyelashes.
