Mismatched Fashion

Anything goes together…. or does it?

One of the great trends of the spring season is mismatching patterns, colors and designs. Florals are mixed with plaids, animal prints are mixed with florals, etc. Stars such as Helena Bonham-Carter mismatched her shoes at the Golden Globe Awards, wearing one red and one green shoe. As she told PEOPLE,
“Why not wear mismatching shoes? Who says we can’t? I was just having fun. For me, fashion is all about fantasy and putting unlikely things together. That’s what I love. I genuinely love dressing up.” She continued, “Fashion is all about having fun. I think fashion has been hijacked by the fashion industry creating rules on what on should wear and I feel like breaking the mold and seeing that the world won’t crumble.”  (more…)

MARDI GRAS COLORS from head to…toe socks!

Every year I can’t wait for Mardi Gras. Unfortunately, I don’t head to Louisiana where this fun holiday began, but I do celebrate the event by dressing in the colors of Mardi Gras, wearing a few beads and cooking up some incredible jambalaya. Of course, my festive outfit begins with purple, gold and green toe socks! What could be more fun?!

MEN ROCK in FUN SOCKS

Fashion-savvy Techies

I feel the need to respond to and share the recent article in the NEW YORK TIMES titled, A Foot In The Door In Silicon Valley.  It was a joy to read about the trend in men’s novelty socks, but we at FOOT TRAFFIC have enjoyed a steady clientele of men buying fun socks for years. (more…)

New Year’s Eve: Keeping it Simple

Kissing by the Fireplace...in socks

“What are you doing for New Year’s Eve?”

There is an expectation that we should go out, get festive, and ring in the New Year with fireworks, dancing and partying. I admit I have enjoyed this monumental event of kissing at midnight, confetti, champagne, and celebrating long into the next day. But these last few years, by the time New Year’s Eve rolls around, I do not want to plan another thing, eat more food or drink more wine. I have come to enjoy the quiet that follows the rush of Christmas and I guess I would rather just merge into next year rather that do a “party plunge.” I am grateful for good health, a wonderful family, and great friends and prefer to just relax and reflect on the past year.

ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS….

This year my family members are asking for my holiday “wishlist” and it seems that every year my list gets shorter. I have so much and really need so little. Other than world peace, a stable economy, a functional government and some good wine, I really don’t need much.

winter park at nightWhat I do wish for this holiday season is for everyone in the world to be warm.  I see people on the street in tattered and torn clothes asking for food.  I see our local mission full of homeless families. I see children without coats. We can’t keep everyone warm but by donating a jacket, a blanket, a hat, or a pair of socks, at least one more person will be warm.

This year, Foot Traffic is donating socks to a local shelter near our organization. It isn’t “global warming”, but it feels good knowing that we have helped someone be a bit warmer this holiday season.
