Foot Traffic Made My Presentation
I work with Foot Traffic’s marketing agency as one of their online strategists. My job is to help them decide what content to produce and help come up with campaigns. So you could say I’m pretty much behind the scenes. So what am I doing front and center as a guest blogger?
The Fashion Emergency
I was recently asked to speak at the 2nd Annual Content Marketing Retreat, on Whidbey Island, in Langley, Washington. I was indeed honored, and taking the event seriously, decided to find a new outfit. I found the dress – straight and fitted. I found the shoes – sky-high but sturdy. Found the jewelry – in my drawer. Then as I tried it all on two days before I was to board a plane to Washington, the outfit seemed incomplete. “I need tights!” I thought.
Because our agency team frequently visits the Foot Traffic warehouse for meetings, I can’t help myself but shop while I’m there. Some might say I have a minor addiction to Foot Traffic. Whatever. I can stop anytime I want. So…I have a fair number of Foot Traffic tights. But the tights I had just weren’t quite right. I was about to panic, as I had no time to shop. Then it hit me. “I’ll just run down to see Charlie and Nancy at Foot Traffic, grab some tights and I’ll be on my way.” But nope. That’s not how they roll.
They had me bring in my dress and shoes, then after a quick analysis, they scurried through the warehouse, pulling different options and holding each one up to the dress – carefully crafting each look. Then came the fun part. I got to try on my dress with the different tights – textured tights, sheer tights, cotton tights, solid opaque tights – each one creating a totally different look! I tried each pair and modeled it for the group, and they helped me pick THE perfect pair. I must admit, it was so much fun for this 5-foot-4 girl to play “model” for a few minutes.
So the day of the presentation came, and as I was getting dressed, I thought about my experience with Foot Traffic saving my day. Their expert advice helped me put together the perfect outfit so that I would feel truly confident. And confident I was. I nailed my speech. I honestly don’t think it could have gone any better. Now I don’t know if it had anything to do with the tights (although I’m not ruling it out), but I do know that I felt pretty, totally comfortable and pulled together because of them. I have to say a HUGE thank you to Charlie and Nancy at Foot Traffic for saving the day and helping me put my best foot forward.
